Exporting to Kenya - Expansion of Regulated Products under PVoC

New Mandatory Certification Requirements under the Kenya PVOC Programme With effect from 01 Dec 2015 all imports of finished products will require a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) in order to be allowed clearance into Kenya. Exceptions to the updated requirement are: (i) Raw materials for processing into finished products. (ii) Spare parts for own use by the manufacturers/industrialists. (iii) Customised Machinery not meant for sale. The current Regulated Product List is now expanded and additionally covers the below sensitive products earlier confirmed by KEBS for inclusion within the scope of the PVoC programme. • Certification of Roof Sheets • Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) • Methanol AVAILABILITY OF CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY (COC) AT KENYA BORDERS In accordance with Legal notice 78, KEBS has strongly emphasized that shipments that are subject to PVoC MUST be accompanied by a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) upon its arrival at the port of entry. If not such shipments will be subject to destination inspection at a fee of 15% of the Cost, Insurance and Freight value of the goods, irrespective of whether the shipments have undergone the PVoC process in the Country of Supply or not. All exporters and importers of regulated products under the scope of Kenya PVoC are obliged to obtain the final copy of CoC prior to shipment of the goods to avoid penalties and possible delays at Customs clearance. Exporting to Kenya - Import Standardization Mark (ISM) now required.

Exporting to Kenya - Import Standardization Mark (ISM) now required. In accordance with the revised Import Standardization Mark (ISM) procedures issued by the Kenyan Bureau of Standards (KEBS), all imported finished products that will be placed in the Kenyan market are required to be labelled with the ISM sticker effective from 1st September, 2015. KEBS have made ISM mandatory for all imported products that comply with the requirements of the relevant Kenya Standard or approved specification. The objective of this new regulation is to assure Kenyan consumers about the product’s safety and conformity to the Kenyan standard requirements. Imported products already in the market can be sold without the new ISM stickers' up to 30th June, 2016. Exporting to Gabon - PROGEC Gabon's Conformity Assessment Programme enforced from 1st August 2015

Intertek is provider of Certificate Services for Gabon’s new Conformity Assessment Programme The Agence Gabonnaise de Normalisation (AGANOR) in Gabon , Central Africa, is to implement its new Conformity Assessment Programme "PROGEC" (Programme Gabonais d Evaluation de la Conformité) from 1st August 2015. Intertek GTS is approved to provide the certification service to exporters to Gabon. The PROGEC programme will verify the conformity of all regulated products in the respective exporting countries, ensuring they comply with applicable national, regional or international standards and technical regulations, to protect the health, safety and environment of Gabon's citizens from sub-standard imported goods. From 1st August 2015 it will be compulsory for exporters to Gabon to provide a Certificate of Conformity for Customs clearance. This certificate can only be obtained from Intertek. Intertek's global services network, located in over 100 nations, will help the AGANOR to ensure products imported from around the world are delivered in good order to the people of Gabon.

Exporters to Niger now need a Certificate of Conformity to clear Customs

Conformity Assessment Programme for Exports to Niger enforced from 1st April. All regulated products now need Certificate of Conformity to clear Customs. As of 1st April 2015, The Agence Nationale de Vérification de Conformité aux Normes (AVCN) in Niger, West Africa, enforced its new Conformity Assessment Programme (CAP) The CAP programme verifies the conformity of all regulated products in the respective exporting countries, ensuring they comply with applicable national, regional or international standards and technical regulations, protecting the health, safety and environment of Niger’s citizens from sub standard imported goods. Exporters to Niger are required to provide a Certificate of Conformity for Customs clearance and this is compulsory. This certificate can only be obtained from an Approved Inspection Body such as Intertek. Shipments arriving in Niger without the Certificate of Conformity will not clear Customs and could incur heavy fines or be returned to the country of export.
